my dash shows 12.5 and right up to 16V opened up. put a meter on the battery and it only goes up to 14. something. is this a common problem ?

As msafi65 wrote, the gauges can be off in calibration. If your meter reads (13.5)14(14.5) at full throttle you are good.sigpic
