  • #60 chains on #50 sprockets?

    when my #50 double chains wear and re no good can i just use new #60 chain but on the couble sprocket? i think i read that you could somewhere?

    Curtis it wouldn't make any sense to try to run a #60 chain on a #50 sprocket. The chain and sprockets are designed to fit together. The pin-to-pin distance is larger on a #60 chain than on a #50. Even if your #50 sprockets were worn out enough that the teeth would accept a #60 chain, there is no chance you would have proper chain to tooth contact around the sprocket. Besides, if you are inclined to spend the money to buy #60 chain, why not just by the correct chain (#50) instead?

      ok thanks for clearing that up, i was just curious i find the double chain to be an over kill and noisier than the single strand.
