    how do you remover bearings with locking collars.i never worked on machines with them so im new to it.do you need to turn with a punch and hammer counter clockwise to get the bearing off?

    Depends on who locked them on,they will lock either direction.You will probably have to try both way
    s to find how they are locked on..

      im just confused how it locks on by smacking it either way?

        It's eccentric, so by turning it, you are pinching the axle. It sits happy in the bearing, but the turned collar tries to force it up. By hitting it, you are taking this force to a greater degree and locking the axle where it is at. Set screw is there to keep the collar from twisting back the way it came. I still use set collars as an added security measure where possible though

          If they were put on properly they were set punched on in the direction of rotation forward. You may be able to see the set punch marks in the the hole next to the set screw. Hope this helps.
