Does anyone know any tricks to get better braking out of the old Argo (about 74 model). Ive sanded and cleaned the discs and pads with brake cleaner, but I still feel that it ought to brake (turn) better. It seems to turn best when cold ( the first few turns) and after a dozen turns or so, it seems like it doesn't respond near as well. Thanks

    Hi doccerny

I am guessing they are mechanical brakes, check to make sure you have the proper clearance between the pads and the disc. If the clearance is too tight your discs will quickly overheat. Make sure you are not riding the breakes.

Yip, they are the old mechanical brakes and the clearance could be the problem. I have them pretty close to cut down on my long lever travel, my levers are 4 1/2 ft. tall.
