how much grease do i apply to the outer bearing flange and seals? pump till some comes out of seals?

If you put too much you will put to much pressure on the seals and the bearing will fail prematurely. I just give mine on my Max IV a couple of shots once or twice a year depending on how much you use it

I do just the opposite and grease it good, depending on your outer flanges 10-15 pumps in the bearing and 2-3 between the doubled seals in the flanges if so equipped. My bearings go 350-400 hours, I make sure to align the grease hole in the bearing with the nipple in the flange and you can usually see the grease coming from under the bearing seals on the inners.
My reasoning is to get any water out, you may not need to be as extreme, the mud and water that the gets inside the body find its way everywhere at some of the places I ride and you may not need to be as extreme. When greasing the way I do I can often see the water being pushed out of the bearings.

My new beer holder spilled some on the trails - in it's hair and down it's throat.
      Joe Camel never does that.

Advice is free, it's the application that costs.

ok i was just wondering. before i actually put the flanges together i fulled the outer flange with grease for the bearing to sit on then pumped some in the seals after it was installed!
