  • argo frontier 6x6 ???

I had a new max11 back in 94 but sold it and went back to 4 wheelers as I had to many issues with the max.I am serously considering a new frontier 6x6 mostly for hunting up here in the Yukon and plowing snow in the winter. When the bearings are kept greased and the chains are adjusted and lubed are the new argo's very reliable? What issues are most common with them? Are these units decent at plowing winter snow?I know they can't be compared to quads but will the argo climb as steep a slope as a bigbore 4x4 quad?

    great site

    Thanks

I own a 2008 Frontier, and I to was a former four wheeler. It doesn't compare. It's much better! I plow alot of snow here in Ontario and it never let me down. It out climbs all my friends on the Big Bore machines and does it at half the speed so if it is too steep I don't fear for my life!!!. I sometimes do miss the speed, although the new Frontier goes 34km.hr, when we hit the mud holes and they just can't keep up.

I don't think you will regreat making the move back.
Ya ain't stuck til the winch cable comes out!!!

I have found Argo's to be VERY reliable, as long as they are maintained. There is NO rocket science to them at all. Maintenance is pretty basic, although getting your hands into some places can be a challenge.
I use my Argo's pretty hard, and so my most common maintenance issues are chains and axle brngs. Simple to fix, but can be a PITA sometimes.
Not sure about the new 6x6, but my Conquest 8x8 will outclimb any quad under the right conditions. ( If a hill has loose traction that requires "tire speed" to climb, then a quad will win. BUT, if traction is good, an Argo will crawl up just about anything...........Just remember that you will have to come back down at some point.)

I use my quad for plowing snow, I have a long, drive through, driveway, and find that with the quad I can plow with enough speed to "blow" the snow farther out from the edges of the driveway.

      Just my 2 bits worth
