  • best place to strap an argo when transporting

So seeing as I haven't bought my argo yet but plan on it in the next few months, I had a question about transport. What are the best points to shackle the argo to in the trailer or when it's in the toy hauler? I assume you can't strap it from the D ring in the trailer to the axles? I usually strap to the frame when transporting quads but that doesn't look like an option with an argo. How do you guys strap your units down?

Just found a thread that says use axles front and rear. sorry for posting.

I have the optional tie down hooks on the front axles and take those to my trailer. The back end, I take a strap and drop it between the last two wheels and slide it over to the other side. I take another strap and drop it between the last two wheels and use it to "fish" the first strap out. Then I hook both ends to the trailer and strap down.

I use a homemade heavy duty Trailer Dog on my Trailer hitch and a ratchet strap through a shackle under my winch to two anchor points on trailer. 120klm return trip rough logging roads no movement from machine.

I pull mine up tight to a bumper in the front of the trailer and drop a pre made bar across the back in front of the tracks. Side to side. It seems to work fine the bumper takes the play out. I try to keep it simple

newer argo s have tie down hooks on each axle at the front and one hook on either side of the tow hitch at the rear. You need to have tie down hooks located on the floor of your trailer or the ability to hook to the lower part of the trailer. Tow the argo facing into the wind pulling it backwards the seat will fly up unless you cover or tie it down.

I tow mine backed on the trailer to keep the weight of the motor off the tongue. I throw a strap over across the seat to the handles on each side and never had a problem. I also throw a strap from the winch to the handlebars to keep the hood from disappearing, should a latch come open.

I thought about backing Juggernaught into the trailer to keep the weight off the tounge, but I only have a half inch or so of clearance between the tracks and the wheel wells. At least it is an enclosed trailer. I have rails on the floor with slots in them to attach straps. I wrap the straps around the axel, under the tub, and around the other axel, and secure it to the rail.

On my old conquest I would run straps across the top of the axles and down to anchor points ( close to the machine on both ends ) on my trailer. The new HDI has the hooks and they work good. I don't recommend going over the body as it will promote tub sag. Keep in mind some if not all states require four point tie downs unless designed otherwise. Heaven forbid you are in an accident and your rig separates from your trailer and comes through your cab or kills or injurers someone else its all on you. Strap them down like you are going to crash every time you hit the highway.

I have an Argo conquest. I have a trailer that has a 12ft deck 70 inches wide. At front of the deck I installed a eye bolt. At the front of the Argo below the rubber bumper below the winch there are 2 bolts one above the other. These go through and fasten to the frame on the inside. Remove the bottom bolt and replace with another eye bolt. Attach a large turn buckle to the trailer eye bolt the other end to the Argo eye bolt.

At the front of the Argo when it is in place on your trailer bolt 4 pieces of 4x4 wood the same width as the tires. stack 2 on each side to acted as a bumper for the Argo to come up against. Tighten the turn buckle until the Argo in tight against the bumper. I then use a ratchet strap on each side of the Argo to keep it from sliding sideways. Fasten to the trailer and the turn buckle. At the back I attach another eye bolt at the back of the trailer. I then fasten a short piece of cable from the eye bolt to the trailer hitch pin on the back of your Argo. Now again in stall ratchet straps at the back. to keep the Argo from moving. It will slide if not secured. What I have said here may be a little over kill but works for me. Now I would not tie down around an axle as you could bend the axle. Also cover your Argo over when transporting on roads. You do not want road grime in the Argo. Also if you have a windshield tow with the windshield down. Don't rely on the little straps that come with the Argo. Strap it across from side to side. Hope this info helps you. Paul

When I throw the Argo in the back of the truck, I throw two straps over top of the entire machine, one strap on the back tow hitch, one on the front axel, and a chain hooked into the axel which is on the back rack on the truck (no load on that, that's just in case a strap let's out so the Argo doesn't get sent off the truck lol
