  • 2008 Argo Frontier 650 6x6

New here but I have been reading the forum. Hope everyone is doing well.
I'm looking at a 2008 Argo Frontier 650 6x6. It has the 23 hp. Briggs. I ran it around tonight and seemed to run decent. When I turned the throttle it did have a slight hesitation and picked up. I was told they put a new carb on it and they paid $300 to $400 for the new carb and they had to get it at Argo to get the right carb because they couldn't find it anywhere else. It had been sitting a while before they got it running again. Also when turning to the right slightly it turned good but when turning to the left it took a little more turning the handle bars to the left side than the right turn took. Handle bar sitting turned to the left slightly when driving it. I'm thinking a slight cable adjustment for the left brake. Chains and sprockets looked good. Original Argo tires but a couple of them had cuts or cracks in them about 3 inches long. Rims had a few dings. Over all looks to be in good shape. Also I looked to see if there was a 3.3 stamped by the dip stick on the tranny and didn't see one. So standard high/low tranny.
    Questions:
What is everyone's thoughts on these hours?
How thick is the side wall of the Argo tires? Maybe put tubes in them?
What else should I be looking at before I consider buying it?
    What is a good price?
    Thanks for the help.
    Joe

Hello and welcome! I am the owner of a 2016 Argo Frontier Scout and still learning all I can...
Regarding price, for comparison, there’s a 2007 frontier 6x6 in Vermont (on Craigslist) with 600 hours and the dealer is asking $7000 for it. Someone else will chime in and comment on this I’m sure...
Sorry I can’t help with any of the issues you’re concerned with!

Hello Joe, welcome to the site. I have a 2009 Frontier 480 with a 14hp that has almost 400 hours on it. Great machine! My sticks are a little to the left as well and it turns easier to the right also. You can adjust the brake cables and i also had to replace the aluminum collar down the handlebar shaft due to force on the handlebar. I would check the front sprockets as mine are needing replacing as well as the jackshafts. My tires have issues like plugs and slow leakage but nothing a little air now and then doesn't fix. Price wise i would price mine around 5000. I have seen brand new 2015 and 2016 frontiers that dealers were trying to dump for 8999 a few months ago. Hope this is helpful

Thanks for the replies everyone. Curtis the chain tension is tight. I checked in several locations. The sprockets are in good shape as well. The second owner used it to run around on a gulf course he owns. I don't believe it has ever been run hard. Most likely cruising the golf coarse.
