If you do the leak down test and all seems fine, try running a remote gravity feed fuel tank and see if there is any change.

My new beer holder spilled some on the trails - in it's hair and down it's throat.
    Joe Camel never does that.

Advice is free, it's the application that costs.

        That's a clean install.

So update on the motor, got it up on a tail gate put some oil in it and turned it over with a compression gauge on it, it now officially makes.... 0 psi both cylinders! So obviously I screwed up something. The valve breather has a pile of air pouring out of it so I assume the valves are the problem, either I screwed up the install or the valve grinding compound I used (like 30 years old, was the only stuff our shop had) messed it up more than it did good. I think next I'd send it off to get the valves and seats grinded and matched up and all that stuff, for now probably find a running motor for the Argo, and keep the old one till I find time and money to rebuild the whole thing.

How you like that predator Jim? Is that one as cold blooded as mine?

That one is not in my machine, the Conquest I had with one in it has been sold. It was cold blooded when it was hot.
You could probably buy a quality carb for a Honda and fix it, looks similar to the Mikuni ( Chinese copy)that was on the Vanguard 23's. Or try to adapt a regular Mikuni slide to it, heck maybe 2 if wanted.
I changed out all the crappy fuel lines and that helped a little, the Mi boys helped with my low end problem at Ash, when in Tn it pulled a hill like nobody's business.

I’ve got some tuning to do on this one. The Mi guys have gave me great info on what to do but it’s been too darn cold for me to even mess with it. Up in air about taking stock muffler off that way I can at least sneak outta my neighborhood without waking everyone up! LOL

That's the predator motor? I was looking at buying one but I can't figure out if it would take the stock clutch, I think I'll go with a b&s vanguard 18 horse, or a Kohler command motor, both on eBay I found them for about 800-1000 $
