2011 hd650 Briggs starter/solenoid trouble

Hey folks.
My hd650 wont start. when I turn the key I hear one click and the dash led comes on, then the next click is slightly louder but starter wont engage. Battery is up, all wires are clean and connected. this has been happening before on occasion, but if I turn the key on and off several times it would engage the starter, not now. Starter motor? Solenoid?

I had the same thing happen to my Argo, one new battery later and it was good to go, however what happens when you jump the starter solenoid?

try starting it in a dark area and watch for sparks. my guess is a bad ground, and they will often spark while trying to make some contact

Got it. Jumped a cable from the bat+ to the starter and she cranked over. picked up a new Solenoid and mounted it on the front frame winch support tube. The original solenoid is mounted on the starter motor and a b..ch to remove so i left it there. At 20 below in a snow storm my fingers couldn't get it free. I think i got a good ground with a bit of sanding on the frame, but i ran an other ground to a valve cover bolt to be sure.
