  • Argo chain

    Hello
Fairly new to this site and it’s been a help so far. I recently just bought a 2007 avenger with the 31hp engine in it. It’s not my first Argo as me and my dad use to run an old 82 8 wheel for moose hunting then we switched to side by sides and quads but nothing was ever as good as the Argo which is why I purchased one. It’s in good shape although the chains seem slack so I’m just going to replace them because I don’t want to be back in the middle of no where with a broken chain. I don’t know if my searching abilities are just horrible or there is nothing posted but how do I tell good chain quality vs crappy. I know people say Chinese stuff is bad but American and so on. I can get a great deal on link belt chain which is made my rexnord. My buddies are running dimond chain and I’ve read that the stuff is top notch although double the price. It has the same tensile strength as the link belt. Any way of gauging the quality or has any ran this stuff. And another question does the thickness of the individual plate matter. Say .09” vs .12”.
Thanks In advance and if there is a link you could send to help out or have experience that would be beautiful.

    Thanks

I did all of the chains on my '07 last summer and used Tsubaki all around.. I got it from my local Napa and in a 10' box there wasn't a pile of wasted chain.. If you're replacing, don't measure but count the links.. While they're out check and replace the tensioner slider blocks.. Speaking from experience, while the tensioners are out, clean the springs and tracks that they run in too.

I replaced all my chain's on my Max II with O-ring chain from MSC direct , 9600 tensile strength, been very happy with it, 40 hrs and no stretch yet.my snowblower has Tsubaki chain on it , any chain that is 9600 + tensile strength will be good, make sure it is O-ring and it will last much longer. Spend the money on chain ONCE, worth the $$
