I have an acrylic windscreen. It's cracked and has numerous "battle marks". I can get a .220 Macrolon replacement, but I cannot find any instructions or videos on how to remove the old windscreen and insert the new piece. Is this DIY, are there any who have already done one that can offer instruction, should I take it to a professional? Thank you for all your replies in advance.

So without getting technical.
Remove screws in lower corners of upper frame, remove snaps with screws from upper frame
Lift upper frame off lower frame (with help if possible)
( it may be necessary to remove windshield wiper and wiring/motor if so equipped.)
Pull window out of upper frame, weather stripping may or may not come with it.
Installation is reverse.sigpic
My new beer holder spilled some on the trails - in it's hair and down it's throat.
Joe Camel never does that.
Advice is free, it's the application that costs.

ARGOJIM,
Thanks. I was looking at the frame and assumed that those were the only things holding it in. But once I start, I wanted to be sure. I got a really good quote from Alro Plastics:
$91.33 for 24 X 48
$256.61 for 48 X 96.
I am planning on taking out the old acrylic and tracing it on the Makrolon. and cutting to size the 24 X 48.
Thanks for your help.

Update...I purchased Bayer Makrolon AR Polycarbonate .236" 24" X 50" for $160.00 US. I removed the frame as discussed above. I then applied liquid dish soap into the gap of the gasket on both side of the frame, with the frame standing on the ground up side down. After letting that soak for a few minutes, I was able to pull the old glass out. I then traced the outline of the old glass onto the new glass and cut with a Bosch Plexiglass saw blade in my jig saw. QUESTION???? What is the best or recommended method for reinstalling the gasket, glass and frame? Do I install the rubber gasket on the glass first and then lubricate the outside of the gasket and install into the frame? Or, do I install the rubber gasket into the frame first, and then lubricate the inside of the rubber gasket and try to slide the replacement glass into the rubber gasket? Any suggestions from prior experience are greatly appreciated.

Put the glass in the rubber first as the frame will cinch the rubber.sigpic

SECOND UPDATE: Okay, ARGOJIM, thank you. Your advice was followed. I lubricated the outside of the rubber gasket after installing it on the new windscreen. I think the size (.236 as opposed to .220) made seating the new windscreen a little more difficult. With two people and the gentle nudging of a rubber mallet, the new windscreen was safely at home in its frame. If I ever have to do this again, I think that I would go with the .220 size as opposed to the .236. It still fit, but I am almost certain it would have gone easier if just slightly thinner. The new Makrolon with AR coating looks great. It was too dark and too cold to reinstall the whole thing last night. Maybe tonight or this weekend. Thanks for all the great advice everyone and ARGOJIM. I hope this is informative for anyone else considering this project.
