  • Recent experience with Argo w/tracks in water

I have a 2017 Argo frontier scout 747 EFI With Adair tracks. I am thinking that this, it might be useful for those of you who are running your Argo in shallow sandy or muddy rivers. Please excuse some of my typos and incorrect words because I have two Use auto translate. I will try to catch as many errors as I can. I installed a 9.8 hp outboard motor and off to the very sandy and shallow Platte River. One of the first things we discovered was that the outboard would immediately suck up any sand or mud that was stirred up and this was especially true if we are running tracks with the motor. This river has a bottom that is constant sandbars. One every couple of feet or so. It was a constant struggle. Next we tried a 70 pound thrust 24v trolling motor and found that this was not working well either. We were very afraid of bending the shaft as we crested the dunes. We also found out that the Argo makes very very little headway in a current. It will push you sideways and treat you like two kittens in a basket going down the stream. Round and round you go. You definitely need something that will at least be able to steer you. You can lean to one extreme side or another to turning your Argo but it is a tough thing to do in the current. I just ordered a mudskipper twister XL attachment for my predator 420 cc 13 hp motor. Will let you know how that works out if anyone is interested. We operate this machine in some rough country and that includes toppling 3 inch diameter saplings going over 12 to 24 logs and Navigating through flooded wooded areas. We have experienced going up very steep inclines and can help you out with some safety precautions especially if you have Adair tracks. Our plan is to be on the rivers 3 to 4 days of the week if everything goes well. Usually need to spend one day a week on maintenance issues but in my opinion and I am no mechanic that the Argo is pretty straightforward and The mechanics are easy to access.
It is my opinion that the Argo is an excellent brush runner and that is about it. But it is good at so many other things which you will just have to learn the idiosyncrasies of.
