  • serious engine question

i have a 93 magnum 8x8 with 850 hours on it. new oil and filter knew air filter new plugs, coil and battery. it starts first flick of the key every time when first starting in the morning and idles away smoothly. i went for 10 min ride stopped took about 3 sec for it to start still not bad but as the ride goes on and engine gets hotter it gets to about 8-10 seconds for it to start followed by sooty smoke. someone please tell me the problem here

Sounds like it's running rich. Check your plugs and see if they're covered in soot. That would explain the smoke and hard starting.

Check that your choke is not partially on

choke is working properly went to start that time and it started fine but had to play with choke and at the end it would only run with choke wide open and would slowly stall while pushing choke in and eventually wound not start. checked plugs anf they are white/gray and to hot to touch after 30 seconds of running. running lean?? would explain having to play with choke.

Clean the carb including the jets.

              Yes clean the carb/Jets
I run 2 fuel filters on my MAX to prevent this issue after having to remove my carb a couple of times to clean, fuel filters are cheap and easy to install
