  • briggs no power

my friend has an 03 response with 18HP briggs. he recently got the engine took apart and redone. it now has no power when turning and bogs down. any ideas on what it could be?

Could be lots of things. My first thought is if he paid someone to overhaul the engine, he needs to go back and see if they will make it right. Another thought is its maybe in the process some trash in the carb go stirred up and now a jet is plugged??? What does "engine took apart and redone" actually mean - complete overhaul?

May not be the problem but even with my 016 Scout with Koehler 23hp unless I bring the revs up in high range it feels like no power when turning. In low range the revs are up a bit and power stays constant through the turn.

Check to make sure it has spark on both cylinders. The Vanguard will run just fine at idle on one cylinder but be gutless under load
