Posting to old thread. Dealer for re-power 23hp Briggs I just bought said the carb needles on these engine series can only take 1 to 2 PSI. Any more than that could cause the needle to unseat in the carb and things could get pretty ugly. Dealer also said he'd never heard of melty pulse pumps, maybe I'll drop one off sometime for him to marvel at...

the lever is constantly lubed yes the crank makes the cam go. by hand?? i would imagine the cam spins pretty fast......if i spin the top 180 the flow will be backward according to the arrows.

I learned something today...I never knew about mechanical fuel pumps! What part on an Argo spins the cam to make the pump work? Internal to the motor or otherwise? I understand the talk about “the cam” now. Does the pump arm need to be lubed?

When pump is installed you should feel suction on the side.

That's possible, but if the checkvalve is on the wrong side, nothing will happen. If tne arm is not on the lobe nothing will happen.

Hey Curtis, Is it possible to do pretty much what Mowbiz says . Just pump the lever by hand?

So seeing as you have had the fuel pump apart, I dawned on me this morning(pun intended), though I could not think of it at first.
Again seeing as you have had the fuel pump apart, look at the second picture at 4:02 on the second page and the problem probably looks you in the face. Now look at the instructions underneath and be sure the head is in the correct direction.

Should be problem solved, after all this. Do not do anything but unhook the lines and remove the 4 head screws, if it is wrong spin it 180 degrees and put back together.
