  • Excessive wear adair pro series tracks.

Well I finally got to try the adair pro series tracks. They perform exellent in all conditions. But they are wearing out very fast 6 months old and 130 hrs. There extremely worn right down to the guide fasteners. Also the fasteners are starting to break and bend. Was wondering about the Canadian built escargo track any input on these. I don't need the beaver dam Argo style to aggressive for my application. Do not want a solid rubber track to hard on the steering. Just looking for some input on the steel escargo track. Canadian style. Like I say the adair track is a great track but at this rate I'm going to need new tracks by spring. My machine is a 2018 outfitter and I love it great machine. Thanks.

Wow! Never heard of the wearing issue with any of the tracks out there! Especially after so few hours of use...I would contact Adair and see what they have to say...

What kind of terrain are you riding? I have about 200HRS on my Escargo's and they show little wear. I was worried about Adair Pro Series wearing out on gravel roads fast. It's pretty hard to wear a steel track down, your tires will wear out sooner! Haha

I have about 450 miles on my steel Beaver Dam tracks, which are similar to the Escargo tracks, and other than a couple of broken welds, there is very little wear. The tires aren't worn either. I know rubber tracks can cause the tires to blister. I have replacement blades, so changing out a broken weld is easy. I have driven over and through everything, and have tremendous confidence in these tracks. These tracks were expensive but worth every penny.

I can attest, Steve has driven over and though stuff I never thought tracks could survive. Very stout!

I have a set of the pro series tracks on my big foot I have them
A around 5 years I put these tracks through everything sharp rocks
Tree stumps deep mud with only some minor scuffs on the
Gromets that’s it. Check with Adair your tracks should last longer
              Than that

                Grommets? Do you mean “grousers”?

Consider the weight diff. 2018 xti outfitter 2000lb. And your Bigfoot 800 lbs. Not only wearing but breaking the fasteners , 8 to 10 every weekend. I got pics. I'm not bad mouthing there track. They performe excellent. Working with Mike at adair to try to solve this problem. We both agree that the Argo outfitter might be to heavy for the screws that fasten the grousers to the belt.

i don't know much about those tracks but i'm just curious what kind of fasteners are used to hold them to the belt ? i'm modifying my adair shackle tracks for my max 2 . the first set of fasteners i used broke pretty quick , so i went to a grade 8 carriage bolt and they work fine . of course it's not near as heavy as your machine . looking forward to hear how your problems solved. johnboy va.

There just a 3/8 wood torque lag bolt that fasten them together. But I don't think the threads on the screw grip very well to the umhw plastic and pull loose till the grounder flexes enough to break the screws.

Lag bolts...wow, you would think something that takes as much of a beating as tracks do would have a more positive fastener system...either that or epoxy them in place so there is no flexing. I’m no engineer but these don’t sound very robust as a fastener.

The fasteners break when the tire guide catches on a log thru tight trails. The top part of the track is going forward and if it catch on sawed off logs at track hight it twist the guide breaking the fastener.
Happened to my one side, other is still perfect shape.

so it sounds like the bolt threads into the uhmw '' grouser ? can they be drilled thru and a bolt with a lock nut work ? i bolted my grousers to the belt . on the nut side ... which is the side on the ground of the grouser , i countersunk the nut so it and the bolt end were flush with the grouser. j.b.
