  • New guy-help id argo for me?

Hi guys, could anybody help me identify what year/model this argo is? The person selling it said they think it was from the early 80s. Motor has been swapped to a single cylinder snowmobile engine. 3 bolt wheels, steering sticks on left side of machine, hydraulic brakes, plastic body. Very rough shape, few holes in the bottom, but he said it ran and drove before taking the transmission out to replace bearings. He replaced the transmission bearings but never put the machine back together. The missing axle and wheel is inside the machine. Trying to find some info on what transmission it has etc. I'm thinking his asking price is ok and I'm thinking about grabbing it for a father son project but dont know where to start.

My new beer holder spilled some on the trails - in it's hair and down it's throat.
    Joe Camel never does that.

Advice is free, it's the application that costs.

Thanks for the info argojim! I'm on the fence about grabbing this...its so cool but the lack of info I can find is really making me want to shy away. Were all of the older argo drivetrains similar to each other as far as what transmission, bearings, seals etc they used?

Similar yes, i think i saw this machine a few years back and someone converted to homemade atv brakes. The only reason im intersted is because of what it may have been. During that time period there were 3 different axle types, none of which are available, would have single chains and one of various 2cly 2 strokes and long deleted chain tensioners.
