Look for a used boat bimini top! It would mount much like an Argo conv top and fold down the same way too. Most bimini tops come with the straps and mounts as well. A little ingenuity (which you have) and you might make it work! Check with local marinas and ad sites like craigslist.

Good Idea. I bought a decent bimini top for my boat off ebay. Very inexpensive too. You take some measurements and order the appropriate size.

heavy vinyl tarp and old Shelter Logic bars and pipe clamps from a tore up car shelter. I have 1-1/2'' heavy tube roll bar so clamps mounted perfectly. Quick light and removable in minutes. sorry pics sideways ???
