  • Oil Change nightmare

Does anyone have any videos or suggestions on how to change the oil on a frontier 8x8 . I did it once and I had to let it drain into the floor pan then lift the front up and let it drain through the drain in the back. The filter was a Bit@& to get to also.

    Thanks in advance

I'm no expert, but some use a pump and go in the dipstick tube. I used a ziplock bag and caught most of it when using the drainplug. can't help with the filter, mines mounted up high and easy to get to.

Frontier 6x6 here but yes get an oil sucking vacuum pump and pull it up through the dipstick tube.
As far as the filter, at first I began disassembling the sheet metal around the muffler then I found I could just reach the filter by reaching in through the cockpit area. Pain in the a$$ yes, but got it done.
Transmission is another story altogether. Not good engineering for maintenance in my opinion.

Replace the drain plug with a drain valve and a length of plastic tubing that will run out the rear drain hole in the body.

Nice idea! Even better attach the tubing to your vacuum pump and suck it out right there instead of running tubing all the way back to the drain hole. Gravity and vacuumm working together!
