  • Hd Belt

Do you adjust it the same as a non hd belt flush to the sheaves because the thikness is not the same.

Never by looks, always by tension. They call it belt deflection for a reason. As tight as you can until it squeal or "creeps" and back off a touch. There is an actual spec based off of how much the belt deflects up and down between the two clutches but that is hard to do on a new stiff belt.
Put it on and run it in neutral for a bit cycling the throttle to wear it in a little then go from there. Same rule of thumb on any CVT machine really.

The Max IV project I bought when my son was in 3rd grade is finally getting done by him and his high school motor sports club buds. He wants the space in the garage to do the engine swap on a truck with a dead engine a friend is giving him.

I have a question about aligning the engine and transmission pulleys. Does the engine need to be placed so that the midpoints of both the drive and driven pulleys are on the same plane, or should the inner parts of both be on the same plane since the outer half is the one that moves?

      Thanks

Welcome back phabib, you want the centers of the clutches roughly 5\16 off center, there may be a guide on the home page.

          Thank you.

The first belt I ordered was too short and a longer one is on the way. I hope they'll have the wheels spinning in short order. I'm not sure who is more gratified at the kids finishing this project, me or them.
