  • 2017 Scout 6x6, RPM reving too high

Hi Guys, When I drive my argo for a while, the RPM seems to stick way too high when I stop. I have to shut off the engine so I can put it in neutral, then once I rev the engine a few time it gost back to normal rpm, I sprayed my cable with anti freeze, but it still doing it.
I was think that the return spring may be a little too weak. Would this be possible ?

My 2016 Scout does this (randomly) but I can’t pin down the reason (haven’t really looked yet)
It is baffling though and flicking the throttle doesn’t seem to work until it randomly works.
I didn’t shut the engine off thinking I might do damage because it was racing.
I just flicked the throttle until finally went back to idle...phantoms..

Our beloved "Snurf" (2005 Avenger,) also does this. 25hp Kohler. I've tried WD-40, and carb cleaner....nothing works. I'll be taking it into the mechanic next week for carb work! YAY! (NOT!)

Did you try lubing the governor linkage?

Earlier throttle cables had a sheath melting issues.

My new beer holder spilled some on the trails - in it's hair and down it's throat.
        Joe Camel never does that.

Advice is free, it's the application that costs.

No, I have not lube the governor, but I will install a stronger spring at the throttle linkage, will see what happen, I thing that in the winter the spring is not strong enough to bring the linkage all the way back.. We shall see

Come to think of it the throttle on my Scout is pretty weak... I will look into this when I bring the machine into the garage next week for other maintenance.

Hi there , I checked out the spring , I found that the spring was a little too long, so I shorted it a bit and now it brings back the linkage all the way where it should be, no more sticking,
