  • Argo Avenger hand brake question

    Hi All
I have an avernger 700, and the hand brake feels like the cable has snapped. I am told that there is some form of block in the system, over the wheels where it is secured and this often breaks, causing the symptoms i am experiencing. My expert tells me it is a body off job to properly repair, but i am wondering if there is an alternative. My argo is for hunting only, and never needs to swim. I am wondering if some form of u bolt clamping the cable either end of the damaged retaining "thing" could do this. My plan is to put a camera under the side to see what is in there and see if this likely to work. i have found a screw through the hull about where i would expect the fixing point to be so know roughly where to look. if it is possible i will just make a small porthole on the inside of the top hull on the cab inside and if the camera shows this will work will pop in a u bolt.
So, will this work, has anyone had a similar problem and if so how did they fix thsi?
    cheers
    dave

I'm not sure exactly what you've heard, but, simply tracing the cable by hand will lead you to the tie in point on the Tbar assembly. Remove the firewall.

If you are talking the Parking brake cable that could be a different story.

My new beer holder spilled some on the trails - in it's hair and down it's throat.
    Joe Camel never does that.

Advice is free, it's the application that costs.

cheers Jim, yes, it is the parking break i am meaning. The hand brake by the seat (as we call it in the Uk) not the handle bar one. Hope this helps and hope you can advise, as your previous advise on my argo was spot on.
This is a long term hunting argo and wont have to swim ever, other than splashing through 3 inch deep streams. My old worn back wont allow removing the top tub, ROPS and various attachments and i am hoping an easier fix, through a potential hatch in the top tun will allow. A wee camera will show me where the problem allows tomorrow.
