  • almost sunk today

I got my Adair pro series tracks installed and took it out today. It's awesome in the mud and hills, going over downed trees and knocking down brush. The problem is when I went in my pond. I got about 30 ft in and the front end took a nose dive and I thought it was sinking. scared the heck out of me. I managed to back it out and no water leaked in. I know these are front heavy but when I tried going forward the front end kept going deeper and deeper. Am I doing something wrong? I have a 2003 Vanguard 2 6 wheel.

At 30 feet in were you floating or still touching bottom? Glad you didn't have a disaster.

I think I might have been on the muck bottom. I'm thinking that it was getting sucked down in the muck if that makes sense. It's all new to me. I bought it about a month ago.

Is your machine accessorized to the point that it's too heavy to float?

I'd imagine you were touching bottom until the nose started dropping and beginning to float, first time in floatation can cause a large pucker factor until it settles and begins full float. Be centered in machine and no harsh weight shifts.

My new beer holder spilled some on the trails - in it's hair and down it's throat.
          Joe Camel never does that.

Jim is right about the first time in the water, it can be an uneasy feeling at first. I would ease in until your used to it and like Jim said no weight shifts. They are nose heavy, i sometimes sit on the top of my backrest to help balance the weight

There is a winch in front and the previous owner beefed up the frame in front so there is extra steel up front. I may try backing in a little deeper area in the pond when I feel more comfortable with it. Should I put some weight in the back to try to level it off a bit? I am super impressed with the tracks.Going over logs, through deep mud, crashing through brush and climbing steep hills with ease is so much fun. I wish I would have bought one years ago. I can't wait to get it out in my friend's swamp in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. everyone is always getting their atvs stuck in the mud there. They always laughed at me because I had to walk. Now I want to drive by when they're stuck.

The v2 floats stably ease it in at first, nose will dive til rear settles and machine will rock at first full float, be certain plugs are in first, then have fun getting used to it.
Watch some water videos with the earlier machines for an idea. There was just a video posted just like that machine by mightymaxiv.
