  • Argo magnum - Direct fir LED Headlights

    Folks,

Has anyone found a direct fit LED Headlight for the Argo Magnum? The original Magnum light assemblies are no longer available (does anyone have old stock?) . I've been scouring but so far, have come up empty handed.

I am also considering the Argo headlight kit as shown here but find it quite pricey. I'll be $300 Canadian for these by the time all is said an done. These do have less draw on the charging system than the original but feel I could do ever better with an LED setup.

What have you done for headlights on a Magnum?

Thank you for the tips and advice.

I’m surprised they don’t do a direct replacement LED for the Magnum.
Strangely enough I’ve just ordered a set of circular LED direct replacements for my older Vanguard from Argo Aventure, $24 each
Prior to selling my Magnum, I bought some rectangular LED’s from eBay. I never got round to fitting them and are still in my workshop. Not much use to you I guess, unless you fancy a holiday in the Scottish Highlands :-)

I ditched the old lights, bought a set of square LED’s off ebay (was cheap, 50 bucks for 4, canadian seller, was only a couple days to get them), did a little trimming and popped them in:

Had to make a couple brackets for the back of the housings to hold them in place since tou can’t use the bracket that came with them (nowhere to bolt them to). While I was at it, I trimmed the mount lug off the bottom of the housing to make them easier to fit.

100x better. Well worth the effort. Cheap too.

I was even able to use the second set of lights later on in the “build”:

Was so cheap, I bought a second set of 4 and put two on the rear sides as well:

It’s intended to be used for search and rescue (as well as a play toy) so lots of efficient lighting is needed. These work great!

Thanks for the Info. Not certain about a trip to the Highlands but certainly , the Isle Of Mull continues to creep closer to the top of the bucket list

Those lights (and your rig) look great Great White. I’ll source something similar and do my own retrofit.... seems LED is the way to go to get much better lighting and also hopefully, take some load off of the already taxed charging system.

          Cheers!

WOW The Isle of Mull is not that far away from me.
If you have a look at the post about fitting the Tachometer in a Conquest, you’ll see the led lamps I fitted.
If you like I can send on the eBay link for them, I bought another set and they were $20 each
            Best of luck
