  • Can you tell what transmission ratio an Argo has by the VIN?

Just curious if part of the VIN on an Argo denotes what ratio of transmission it has in it. The gen 1 classic trannys had three options low (GU), medium (MU), and high (HU) and the gen 2 you can get in low (3.3 high torque) or standard. The admiral units also have the standard or high torque.

Argo might be able to tell you if you called them and gave them the VIN, but I don't know of any other way to find out by the vin number.

I believe you can by looking up the number on the transmission itself though...

Thanks. I know about the transmission stamp, which are the GU, MU, HU, I put in my post. I have just been looking at some units for sale on line and most of them post the VIN, but never what ratio is in the trans.
