  • Admiral trans oil

Why wouldn't we be able to use a newer thinner synthetic oil instead of 75w90 gear oil. Gear oil is practically not used in manual trans cars anymore

Despite what some low budget tv shows will tell you, as well as commercials for people trying to sell the synthetic stuff, thinner is not always better. No need to overthink this, just go with what the book suggests, at some point a group of engineers got paid a good dollar to determine what would work best inside that particular transmission, who are we to think we're smarter?

Every admiral transmission I have had in my shop that was running synthetic oil was weeping out the shift shafts.

That's one of the reasons i was asking, i have just purchased this 2013 HDi and the trans seems to be leaking from everywhere. the shift shafts, the input shaft bearing, etc. the whole machine is filthy and smells of gear oil and grease.

Just a sealed bearing on the input
