  • Conquest Axle Shafts

    Hello guys
I’ve recently taken delivery of new chains for my machine, now that I’ve removed the old chains it’s clear to see the movement of the wheels, at first I thought it was new bearings that would be required but unfortunately on closer inspection, during its life the little Allen grub screws were not replaced on the bearing housings and his has caused the bearing inner to rotate on the shaft.
Obviously this has caused wear on the splines of the shaft and all the movements are between the splined shaft and the inner sleeve on the bearing.
As all wheels have significant movement and it’s going to be VERY expensive to replace all the shafts I was considering using some chemical metal like J-B Weld to build up the gap on the spined shaft.
Has anyone else experienced this problem and how did you work round it?
Many thanks in advance for your input
    Gord

    Update
I made a call during the week to our local mobile Argo Technician to ask his advise.
As luck would have it, only a couple of weeks ago a client of his upgraded his Conquest axles to later ones
and I was able to purchase the now redundant Conquest axles in very good condition with excellent sprockets and bearings for $60 each
    One happy guy
