  • Removing front right extension

    Machine: 2009 750 avenger,
    Issue: upgrading to HD axles

One of the 5 front right bolts that bolt the extension to the body is spinning when I try to remove it.. the other four came out without much issue.

What’s the best procedure to remove this problem bolt and repair, because the threads are shot or the pressed in nutsert is no longer viable..?

I would probably suggest grinding the bolt off and then drill it out once extension is off. If it is one of the 2 they are accessible inside frame, if it is one of the 3 drilling and tapping are only option if there is enough nut left without removing the frame.

        Joe Camel never does that.

It was one of the front three, so out came the grinder.. the remainder of the bolt fell into the frame tube , along with the nutsert. I’m hoping to get a new nutsert installed and see how that fares.. if not , drill a hole all the way the through the tube frame and set a bolt, and hopefully that will solve this issue..
