  • Tire opinion

Going to be replacing my 25x12x9 tires on my 97 Bigfoot. Narrowed it down to aquatorque or vampires. Reviewing a lot of positive and negative of both. Leaning towards the aquatorque. Anyone have any opinions of each. Lots of skeg and mud in the area I reside. The stock ones are still not to bad, but are showing their age and wear. Recently joined this site and so far amazing.

Hi, When buying tires if you may buy tracks or have tracks not all tires will fit in some tracks.
keep this in mind. Hope this helps.

Thank you sir. Will keep that in mind definitely. Probably won't be thinking about tracks for a while. Mainly looking for good traction. Beleive it or not, this 97 Bigfoot has been through some nasty skeg following an 8 Wheeler with tracks. It was easier for him, by far, but didn't get pulled out.

my rawhide III were the best in mud and awesome in water even pulling my homemade floating trailer upstream they dryrotted after 9 years and couldnt find any. I replaced them with aquatorques big mistake absolutely zero speed in water. Havent tried them in mud i expect they will be baddass. Our hunting lease still flooded til september.

I've had Super Swamper TSL/Vampire for over ten years on my avenger. Great tire. My only issues with them was leaking air, which I blame more on the rims than the tires, as I bought them from the owner of Muddox and he used them as test tires. They were spun on the rims alot and just had a tough time keeping air. I put tubes in and that solved the problem. The other issue was puncture holes, which I blame on having two moose in the back in rocky terrain. I've had the rawhides and they were way worse in those conditions. In other words, the vampire weren't the problem.

(funny story, I had a flat while hunting in northern alberta a few years ago, I took the tire off and took it to a repair shop to put a tube in. He handed me a full size rail tie that he found in the tire. How it got in there I have no idea).

All in all, I recommend the super swampers. I am getting 8 new ones this summer.

So many choices for tires. Difficult to decide on what type. And limited by budget. How do the vampires do in bogs? Been looking hard at the carlisle xt119 and the Xt117 tires. Not looking for water speed, just movement on water. Try to get as much information as I can before maxing out what I set aside for tires. Don't want to regret making the wrong purchase. Even the vampires and the carlisle tires have a lot of praise and just as much negative about their performance.

A rail spike in the tire? Nasty. I've seen my share of different things in car and truck tires, but never a rail spike. Hope you hung on that for a conversation piece. I would have. Good to hear you lean towards the vampires. Thanks for your reply.
