  • New 2020 Classic transmission with steering improvement?

Is the 2020 classic tranny on the frontier 6x6 and 8x8 better or less jerky than older models? Why wouldn’t Argo offer the admiral transmission as an option on all Argo models?

I have not driven with one of the new Argos with the classic transmission and the new steering system but I have been told that it does make a little difference but it is still the old classic skid steer transmission and you can tell it is a classic when you drive it. I have no idea why Argo does not offer the Admiral as an option.

I wonder what would be interchangeable parts wise between the new classic trans and the older trans like in my 97 Vanguard?

Can't seem to find a parts diagram for the 2020 models like you can for the older models...

The 2020 are HUGE improvement over previous models. They litterly feel like driving an ATV. Very smooth. Can RIP down a road at 30mph and have complete control. Pre 2020 non admiral units can get pretty sketchy over 20mph. Not so with APS.

The classic tranny still robs power in turns. Less noticable in a 700 than the 600.

the addition of springs just adds a damper to the pressure that is applied to the master cylinders. It gives finesse to someone who otherwise would likely not use any, that’s all. Finesse has always been required for smooth operation, now not as much. Going 20 mph in a machine that has no suspension is not a useful (at least for very long) or maintenance-friendly idea.
The springs prevent shock loading of the drivetrain by hard charging drivers or novices that think they’re in a standard side-by-side
