Just refurbished my 2001 argo Bigfoot brake calipers yesterday. started on the right side and luckily enough the two bolts holding the calipers to the tranny came out without too much force. The brakes are the only system I had not refurbished and feared after fighting the drive train.
I ran into a problem attempting to pull off the left caliper. The secondary clutch is in the way of getting a ratchet with hex key #6 driver socket through the disc and to the bolt. So I checked the service manual and sure enough you are supposed to pull the secondary to get at the cailper. Not necessary. I ended up getting the whole ratchet and hex key stuck between the secondary and the disc.
Instead I took the hex key socket # 6 and slipped a ratcheting box wrench over the hex key driver and by keeping pressure on the driver to stay in place in the bolt head, I could then use the ratching box wrench to unscrew the bolt and remove it same to re install.
Hard to describe with words but easier than pulling the secondary.
Brake pads were shot. These machines still amaze me how durable they are.
