  • Tracks or no tracks

I was wondering is the 6x6 be better without tracks when hunting moose in October. No snow, no ice, but a lot of water and mud. I had tracks on last year, but I find that for the bigger pothole with soft mud or a lot of water ( deep water ) tracks are useless.
What would be better for that time of year ?
    Thanks Guys

unless you don’t mind getting stuck now and then, tracks are always better. Ask people in your neck of the woods what all tracks they have tried and their experience. What you describe is no problem for any decent track.

Depends on the track style. But when it comes down to it the thing people like least about tracks is never their traction, I know of no tire combination on a AATV that can outperform even the worst track set up when it comes to permanence in mud and soft ground.
Anywhere tracks didn't work great in mud tires would do much worse. (again on the same machine) Tires can compete with tracks but only if the tires are MUCH larger, wider, more aggressive vs tracks, example would be a full set of 66" monster truck flotation tires would only just compete with some cheap all plastic waffle board Max II tracks.

If you go dual tire set up (12x12etc) or J wheelz you may keep up with some tracked machines, but that is a lot of extra width.

There is really no comparing a tracked machine to a wheeled machine. The tracks step the game up to the next level.

Been here a while and have two sets of tracks, that being said you won't find two guys with more experience using tracks than Buzz or Noel. Plenty of videos of Noel running different machines with and without tracks. Buzz just seems to have tested all sorts of track styles.
