  • Argo Vanguard 23 Carb cleaning advice

Hi Everyone, I’m a new owner of a used 2007 Argo 6x6 with a vanguard 23 engine. I recently changed the fuel filter and ever since my Argo won’t start. The fuel filter was definitely installed in the right direction. Fuel is coming out of the fuel pump line that leads into the carb. I also checked and I do have spark on the plugs but it still won’t start. I’m guessing I need a carb cleaning / rebuild ? I can’t find any videos or tutorials that shows my specific carb. Any links or advice are welcomed. I’ve included a picture of my carb

    Thanks!

I had a similar issue with mine. Not a 23hp, but a 16hp... After replacing the filter I also pulled the pump apart (vacuum actuated on the engine) and cleaned it. I must have freed up some junk because it found it's way into the inlet on the carb and clogged it up, stopping all fuel flow into it. I ended up pulling the inlet line off, pulling the top half of the carb off and removing the float and needle, and blowing some compressor air down into the needle seat which blew out whatever was blocking the fuel flow through the inlet on the side of the carb. Reassembled and it never gave me an issue again.

Sounds like my situation exactly. I’ll try doing the same thing and see what happens.
      Thanks!
