  • argo HDI blows the main fuse

so today i installed the tracks, top and plow on my 2012 HDI.get it all done and go to start it and ive got nothing,no power.checked the fuses and find my main fuse is blown, chucked a new one in and away i go.this machine has never before blown a fuse, and am a little concerned as to why it did so today.would corrosion in the fuse block cause this?i did notice a little bit of white powdery corrosion where the fuse pops in.

    thanks

I would imagine it could as an intermittent power loss and load applied could be a shock to the fuse, clean it up and see what you have. Starting and winching should only be relay draws.

My new beer holder spilled some on the trails - in it's hair and down it's throat.
    Joe Camel never does that.

Advice is free, it's the application that costs.

embarassing as this is i better follow up on my thread.i pulled all the fuses out and cleaned the fuse holders with electical clean up spray,a small screw driver and compressed air.got everything nice and shiny then applied dielectric grease on the fuses then re-installed them all.turned on the key and started then machine hit the 3 switches for lights, bilge pump and wiper, damn fuse for the wiper popped i was scratching my head.then a dim light bulb came on.i have the 3 wires going to the wiper on bullet connectors so i can unplug them and remove the windsheild.well damned if i didnt mix up 2 wires and caused a dead short.phew,im glad thats all it was.

Glad to hear that you got it sorted out! Gotta love it when the electrical gremlin is an easy fix, even IF embarrassing - pretty sure most of us have a similar tale.
