  • Mounting a plow on my bigfoot that has a different argo body (no bearing extensions)

    Hey there,

As the title mentions, I want to mount a plow on my bigfoot. Turns out I dont have a bigfoot at all.. I have the top half of a bigfoot and the bottom half (axles/body) of a different model (I was told frontier). That said, I don't have any bearing extensions on my argo, or rather the frame to support bearing extensions (I do have the parts though). Is there anyone out there who has solved this issue? (I have the plow, bearing extensions in hand and mounts for plow, just no great way to fasten to argo itself). Thanks!

Top half of a Bigfoot is any Vanguard or Vanguard II,the difference is the bottom. It will fit 25" tires, have a 18 Briggs, standard skidplate.hydraulic brakes.I think the Frontier models have a different lower that I dont think would match a Bigfoot/vanguard upper.I could be wrong but,you need to figure out what you really have,to figure brackets or adding bearing extensions.

Gotcha - Ya, there's not much original on this frankenstein that I have. It doesn't have original motor - It now has a 20.5hp subaru motor - The hydraulic brakes are not original either. The top half says bigfoot (that's why I said the top half is bigfoot) - The Bottom, again, I was told was frontier (from the guy that built the thing), however, based on the year it is - He told me it was from around 1994 - I'm guessing it's a vanguard, which, I think, would explain the lack of bearing extensions... Basically, it just doesn't look like I have any avenue of attaching the bearing extensions in any sort of solid fashion; I think I'd have to support the other bearing extension with more than just plastic for it to hold the weight of a plow...

Yes the newer frames will accept the bearing extensions.I have seen plow brackets on older machines that follow the whole tub length and have u shapes cut to go around the bearing flanges and naturally stick out the front for the plow frame pivot point. Also any Frontier should have the single 1 hand handlebars.2005 was the last of the 2 individual brake setups.

There's an interesting idea - A bracket that runs down the whole tub length - That's not a bad idea.. Hmm. Ya, mine would have originally had 2 individual brake levers - Again, though, this was swapped out for a single handlebar.

Does your frame have a round cross member right at the front? If yes, it likely has the necessary threaded holes for the bearing extensions.

Unfortunately no cross member at front...

I'll try to get a pic up. Unfortunately, I dont think there's too much to see. It basically looks like a bigfoot, but it's just not lol. It's got the tub of whatever model would fit under a 1994ish bigfoot, and whatever model that was is missing the added support to attach bearing extensions.. Sounds like in order to make this work, I'll need to do some major work.
