I have recently purchased an overpriced 92 Vanguard 6x6, it is a leftover 91 as I can figure as it has the 16 opposed, where as the 92 had a 16 Vanguard V twin. I think?? Anyway, I bought the unit as a project to experiment with and use it to get to a hunting spot that became inexcessable with my Rhino. Great unit but doesn't swim worth a da##. The argo came with a set of supertracks. I tried the unit with the tracks...the thing is like a small tank. The tires were original and blew one out. 'Nother story, cannot get ONE stinkin' tire so bought a set of tires that I could afford. Took the machine same place with the new tires and had no problems getting to where I wanted to go. I have been reading about how much tracks CAN but not have to screw up bearings axles chains etc. I have replaced the axle bearings and have new chain to be installed. My question is ; Are the tracks worth the trouble or should I just get rid of them? I live in southwestern Ont about 5 miles from Lake Huron . Our winters don't seem the same as 25 years ago so not getting the snowfall so maybe no need for them?

Some of the early Vanguard labeled machines still came through with the Twins in them until stock was used up, we had a brown one. If your tracks are adjusted properly you should not have as much failure, tight tracks wear everything loose tracks wear themselves and make noise also are prone to getting thrown.

If you have the tracks and a place to keep them I would probably leave them around as a just in case.
One issue with the early supertack design was the guides, it seemed they would bend inward, if the tracks were too loose the ears would get sharp from rubbing each other and start puncturing sidewalls. We have heated and reshaped the ears some by bending them outward, also cut off or grind down any sharp points at the tops of the guides. Pin wear is another issue with plastic tracks.

    No track swims well.

My new beer holder spilled some on the trails - in it's hair and down it's throat.
    Joe Camel never does that.

Advice is free, it's the application that costs.

Thanks for the response. I don't know exactly how old the tracks really are. The guy I bought the unit from said they came off a 02?( but he also told other things) Bigfoot. There doesn't appear to be any wear on the ears and the two pins I did take out showed some slight wear and probably would have reused them if I hadn't cut the stop out with a zipcut
