  • Water Issues

    Hello all,
I am a first time owner of an argo bigfoot 99 model. Took it swimming this weekend and saw that there was a decent amount of water in the hull. I put new plugs in the drainholes before I went out. Could this be the problem or is there other places in the machine that typically take on water. What is the best way to check for leaks? More questions to follow, just thought I would start with this one. Great site by the way. Thanks.

    John,

Welcome to the site! Most likely you are getting water in the hull through the bearings around the axles. Try to make sure that they are greased properly first. You may have to replace some though if they are already properly greased.

To test for leaks, put your plugs back in and fill the tub up with water. Then once the water gets up to the axles start looking around the tub for leaks.

    Hope that helps.

Or you could pull your floorboards and drive into the water, you will see whaer the water is getting in.

Mine leaks around the nose, where the upper & lower body comes together! One day when I'm not being lazy, I will seal it up with a little black RTV.
