Stupid zerks!

I just did my 20hr "break-in" service on the 2021 Argo Frontier 650 8x8 and half of the zerks pulled right out. Kind of a pain but really no big deal on those, they are the push-in type and I just tapped them back in. But one of them is broken and the barbed half of it is still stuck in there. How do I get that sucker out and what zerks should I keep on hand to use for replacements?

I’d use an easy out that’s used to remove broken bolts to remove the broken piece or a drill bit that’s a little larger than the opening in the broken piece of zerk just litely twisted in and pulled out with pliers or vise grips. As far as replacements most auto parts stores should have a selection. Just bring one of yours to compare. Hope this helps.

I bought a LockNLube for the grease gun after my first service. This makes it much easier and I didn't pull out any the next time around.

I also pulled out about half the first time around.

The tip that came on the gun was way to tight and pulled them out.

glad this came up. I had one come out early on and I stuck it back in. sometimes pushes out with grease, anyway I have for years thought it was threaded in and stripped. I'm not a mechanic but the argo has taught me alot. I always thought the machine was trying to teach me about zerks and proper grease gun technique guess not.

Hi I had same problem with my avenger. Take the teeth out of the grease gun nozzle. Screw the end cap off the gun nozzle remove the teeth and reinstall the end cap.
The gun will still work but you will have to hold the nozzle in tight to the zerks. This is an easy fix for greasing. Worked for me. Have a great day.

Thanks for the replies. I bought a lock n lube and it's great for the ones that aren't too tight to get it in there. Some spots are too tight to use it though.

I also use this type. Works great for ones you can't go straight onto.

I use a Milwaukee cordless grease gun with a flexible rubber hose, it makes sneaking in those tight areas bearable. The tip is a type that has small teeth so it grips but doesn't damage the zerk. I know Ryobi has a similar product.

Amazon has boxes of zerks for cheap. I've changed out many of mine for the ones with better angles. On the older machines I think the manufacturers just put what zerks they had on whether or not it was what the application needed.
