2014 Avenger Admiral Transmission drain plug stuck

I bought a 2014 Avenger with Admiral Transmission. I went to drain the trans but I can't get the drain plug to budge.

Is this a common problem? Anybody have any suggestions on how to crack that open?

heat it up a little. It may have thread sealant? that has hardened up. You can also unthread the sight glass. It helps to tilt the front of the machine up. Either option you’ll need a gear oil pump or vacuum pump to get all of the oil out. Even the drain plug is above the bottom of the case. I use a 2x6 sideways spanning the frame on either side anytime I lift one or both ends of a machine. Drive around first if possible to warm up fluid. 1.27 qts 75w-90 amsoil severe gear is what I use, any extremr pressure gear oil will do (75-80w/90). Fill to middle of sight glass, depends on how much old fluid you got out.

I sucked out almost a litre (quart) from the top with a vacuum pump and then refilled to the middle of sight glass. I might try and heat it a little and use an impact wrench. What size do you use on the square head of the drain plug? Any special tools?

heat it up like buzz said then give it a whack on the end with a hammer.that should jar the threads loose.

Mine was stuck too, I bought a four sided socket for square plug and use a short cheater bar to break it fee.

If you don't mind me asking, what size of socket did you buy and where did you buy it from?

7/16” square if I remember correctly. Mine was in a set of tools from craftsman purchased in late 60’s. Once you get the plug removable the fluid an be vacuumed outs with 6” of 1/4” tube inserted to the right of the plug at downward angle.
