  • Oil Change Time

What do you all use to drain your oil? I see many options available.
I have a 2020 Aurora 850 that is in need of an oil change.
This will be my first Argo oil change.

Hello there. I use an oil extractor. You can get them in manual, electric, and vacuum inducer style. There's also Small pumps that can attach to a drill. The one I have uses Air. Comes with different tube sizes. I remove the the dipstick put the small tube down and let it extract. Been using it for everything now. Take a look in my pictures and you'll see that one I use. These extractors save a lot of messy tub clean up

Perfect that was what I was planning to do. Didn't know if a cheap Harbor Freight one would do the trick or if I should go bigger.
What ever I get I can use on the outboard as well.
          Thanks for the replies.

Bought $20 one off Amazon. “12v Oil transfer pump”. Works great. Super easy.

Those do work great. A bud of mine has one he got there for his quads.

I've done the old "catch it in a zip-lock baggy held under the drain plug" trick a couple times now. It's not easy, but it's free lol

                    Got the oil out, but

So after a bit of persuading I got the tube for the pump down the dip stick tube.
Pumped out the oil and worked pretty well.
Then I went to try to spin off the filter.
That is a bit tight. Never got it off.
Ordered a pair of oil filter pliers as there is no room for any sort of socket type wrench.

Put new oil in and will try again when the pliers arrive.

Does anyone have any experience changing this on the 33 HP Briggs?
Not much clearance between filter and transmission.pump.jpgpliars.jpg

Yes the pliers work great in there.

I had a tough time today with the oil filter. I used a Walmart band clamp tool, $6 in oil filter section. Worked great. I removed firewall and accessed from drivers side. I tried without tool and had to revisit . Finally got it off. FYI. A Fram 4967 or any 4967 filter will work if you don’t have another Briggs filter. I sank mine that’s how I know. Also when it’s time to change your transmission, heat the drain bolt with a torch for 15 seconds or so. It’s very hard to get out if you don’t heat it. Hope this info helps. Double check on aurora , I have a frontier.

Thanks. I have the pliers ordered. Should be here tomorrow.
On the Aurora I have an easier time reaching the filter location from the front under the hood than through the firewall.
Hope to try again soon, maybe this weekend.

You need a band type oil filter wrench. It flops around on its handle and you can get it on no problem once you figure out how it works.
At least on my 2007 frontier 6x6 with 23 hp b and s engine. Make sure you get the right size there are a few and it may be the smallest I forget...at least for my size filter.
