  • Tires for a Argo 6x6

I was checking out my tires while there not in bad shape there is some cracking not much. The tires are 22x10x8 Goodyear. I know these tires are made for the Argos and that's what makes the machine move in the water but do I gave to go with the same kind of tires? First the price is unbelievable for one tire and and lime I said I know that's what propels the machine in the water but I'm thinking of adding a trolling motor for the water so would I be able to put different tires on the rims or can I go with a different same size tire. I've had atv's for years but I've never had so many questions on one before. These are really different machine then I'm use to.0

You can run any tire you wish for everything but water, few swim and less decent. If the tires are not leaking down in the amount of time you are in it I would, and do, run them til they die. Trolling motors should help with water speed but only so much.
There is no tire that rides as well as a Runamuck except maybe an Argo tire pre 2018.

My new beer holder spilled some on the trails - in it's hair and down it's throat.
    Joe Camel never does that.

Advice is free, it's the application that costs.

You can always put tubes in if your tread is decent but losing air through weather checking. I replaced mine with an offshore brand called Caribou from Fort 9 out of Montreal. .

How do the caribou tires work out for you? Easy to turn? Do they swim at all? I've been interested in them for a while but haven't pulled the trigger

I will get every mile out of the tires before I buy new ones and putting tubes in to. I just wanted to know my options.

The Caribou tires seem to be good for my application. They turn as easy as my worn out Runamucks but chew the crap out of the lawn. As far as swimming goes, I think I was swimming in one hole on the trail back to my stand but don't know for sure. I hit a deeper hole pretty slow and seem to move a lot slower for 10 feet or so till I hit some more substantial footing. Our area got 2 3/4 in of rain in about 20 minutes so the trail to the stand was a bit wetter than usual. If I am going to float around in water I prefer to be in an actual boat. Other than that I don't know. I do know I can get where ever I want with them. I also liked the price and delivery. 6 tires taxes in delivered was around the 540? mark. I ordered them online Friday afternoon and was putting them on Tuesday morning. They told me 3-5 working days. I guess they must work weekends. The remarkable thing is they came thru Canada Post.

That price sounds great! Thanks for getting back to me . Sounds like the tires can hold their own in the slop. I'm using the duro mud and snows with the konobbies cut off in between the chevron on my 6x6. I'm very happy with them and they work well all around but the mod is a bit of a tedious PITA to do and I'll be in the market for replacement tires for my 8 wheeler soon. That's a lot of knobbies. The caribou might be the ticket

Update on the Caribou tires. Now that I have used them quite a bit more,I am more and more impressed by them. As they have no "forward or reverse design" they are equally aggressive either direction. They seem to wear good, no actual sign of wear other than the brand new little knobbies have mostly worn off. I do trailer the Argo to the initial trail head but do have some gravel to run on before the trail. Then it is thorny brush, cedar swamp, hardwood stands, rocks, mud and water. Lots of fun. I have run some pavement on the street in front of my house but keep it to a minimum. Overall I like them and are fine for my application. They also work fine with the supertracks.
