  • Still having trouble getting my Argo Vanguard to idle right.

When I first start it it runs good for about a half hour then after that I have to keep giving it gas do it won't stall out on me. I tried turning up the idle screw but for it to stay running I have to have it up to about 1500 RPM. I know the first thing someone is going to say is clean the carb but I've done that a few times and the pilot jet is nice and clean. Besides this problem I have the machine running pretty good in the spring I'm changing out all the chains on it.so like I said the first 1/2 he it runs fine it doesn't stall but after it warms up real good then that's when the problem starts.

It almost sounds like a vacuum leak somewhere when the engine reaches temperature.
Question though, did you remove the idle air mixture needle and clean the port there?

My new beer holder spilled some on the trails - in it's hair and down it's throat.
    Joe Camel never does that.

Advice is free, it's the application that costs.

Argo Jim. I did remove the idle jet and cleaned everything and then I let it soak the whole carburetor for about 2 days and then blew everything out. I think you might be right about the vacuum window because when I do rub it up it stays running high and takes a while for it to come down an RPMs. So I guess I'm going to have to now look and see about the vacuum leak.
