The Max's are bolted together with 1/4" hardware.
Honestly, if it weren't for those bolts holding down the roll cage I would use rivets. For as few times the body get split apart, the mud gets into the hardware, or they rust, and usually brakes when trying to remove.
I've tried everything from anti seize to cap plugs over the bolts but the mud gets in there anyway.
Good news is the rivets are cheaper than the bolts, but unless you have a powered pop riveter, your hands might get tired. I bought a cheep pneumatic riveter from Amazon, well worth it.

I use 3/16(12/64) x 3/4 aluminum pop rivets. And yes, your hands will get sore.

I couldn't find any 3/4 inch rivets, so I used #10 1/2 inch machine screws and nuts, we'll see how they work. I did use 1/4 inch stainless steel bolts on my old/86 argo, but the seal didn't sit very well..

I also have an inexpensive pneumatic riveter. It cost $40 or so and got it from either Ebay or Amazon. Once you use one of these you will never go back to a manual riveter. I literally used it one afternoon on my Super Swamp Fox and probably put in several hundred rivets in an afternoon with no problems and no fatigue. The best thing in you can also use it for projects around the home as well as automotive repair.
