Has anyone ugrade there shear pin alxles to the newer splined type?
I have no experience with spline axles but I am tired of replacing shear pins on my front two axles. Will coverting to the splined type (if Possible) fix this problem or are they problematic as weel?
not trying to talk you out of an upgrade, but shear pins are like a fuse. when they break, it keeps you from harming the next weakest part like a chain, sprocket, or axle. not sure what machine your running, or it's age/ condition... my old, rough, poorly maintained argo seems to be built like a tank. i don't really fear much breaking in it other than the shear pins, so i think splines would be nice. on my attex, and terra tiger the sprockets and wheel adaptors are bolted through the axle. both have 1" axles. the attex has a lot of power, and the terra tiger is heavy so in both of those machined i like having the bolts as my "fuses" if you want to upgrade to splines, whipper is the guy to talk to.

i looked into upgrading my early 80s 8x8 argo but by the time i had of replaced all 8 axles and all sprockets with new splined ones it would have cost more than the whole argo was worth, besides, since running how is,iv found the old ones perform just fine! just buy good quality pins.
