    bearing size

Can one of you tell me the size of the outer bearing. I found a bearing supplier here and need a size to tell them. About the seals, I was given a price on new flanges with the seals already in them and it was (I think) a good price. It may be easier to just replace the whole flange that just the seal. I can't remember the exact price but I think it was under $30. or close to that.

Chappy i put the part number on the priovous page, as for the seals i got them from the dearler in anchorage for $2.00 each or so. it took all but 3 mins to remove and replace them. some online sites were running around $17 for the bearings but the shipping to Kodiak Alaska was over $30. so do the math for me not much of a option.

the only ones i had trouble with is the front just because big man little space. a press is a must for the front.

I wrote up a procedure to change out the front left seal for another thread, it can be used for bearings as well.

Fronts are the most difficult, due to limited space. I have never had to use a press when changing bearings, but you must make sure you use a good anti-sieze when reassembling.

IMHO, you can toss the bearing setscrews for the outer bearings. I don't use them, and don't miss them at all.

Chapy, having a new bearing flange is a good idea, but they don't need to be changed unless they are damaged. (Worn seal pockets, or cracked flange)

AKPride, you don't need to have "tight" chains. As long as they are not slapping around too much, or jumping (skipping) on the sprockets you are OK.
I get about 250-350 hrs on a set of chains, depending on "Track Time"

              thanks

              Rock doctor,
Thanks for the info on the chains and the bearings. I just thought the chains seemed a little loose but I do like to have everything in good order and am still learning what that means on my Argo. Thanks
