  • Do I Need Blower Or Not????

Hello again, I'm trying to put my old argo back together (1990 argo magnum)and the blower was given to me in a box.The shrouding is there to hook to,but I don't know how or where to mount the blower. Does it draw air by the rotors or blow from the engine compartment past them? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks for now.

it should mount in the right front and pull air in the vent above the right front tire. you do need it, it blows fresh air on the rotors, actually more the calipers to cool them. i was told by my local dealer that on the earlier hydraulic brakes, they had an issue with the puck in the caliper getting so hot that it would warp and not allow the brake to release. when this happened you would have to wait for them to cool and then you could drive again. he said that in a lot of cases it would happen after only 10 min of riding

I would wire the blower with a switch so when it is cold out or you need more power from your battery, you can turn it off.

that makes good sense. It's on full time as soon as u turn the key.I might use the switch the prev. owner had that run the fuel pump, as long as i don't have to re-hook that!

thanks evil, i should have mentioned that. i shut mine off whenever possible so as to not to be pulling from the battery. i was having some battery issues at buzco and when we did a long night ride i was a bit concerned about running the fan and headlights. i switched the fan off and on about every 5 minutes. ..

if think the fan just bolts in, then a 3" hose gets clamped to it and to the dash on the other end

Got the fan figured out, now the fuel pump issue. You would not believe the crap in the carb. I rebuilt the carb, cleaned tank, new filter, checked lines. Now the fuel pump won't draw a drop of gas.I took it off and worked it manually with about a foot of line in the can and nothing. When i took it apart there was a bunch of rust, so i cleaned it with no luck. Any suggestions here guys?New or fix old or other. P.S. The pump was new in march 2006

What engine is in your Argo? Are you talking about the mechanical pump or an electric one?

It's the mechanical one.I took the electric one off, trying to get machine to original working condition.

i'd go with a new mechanical pump. if it was rusty, your best to start fresh. you might also want to replace the lines. they are cheap and it would allow you to know that your covering all your bases. finally, check the electric pump that was on the machine. if it works, i would reinstall it with a switch so it only runs when you want it to. it is usefull for initial startup. or going up steep hills

I would do exactly what race said. Once you get a good mechanical pump you probably find that the electric pump will really make a difference on startup and hill climbs.

My concern with the electric one is that it's to powerful and the float is not able to shut the supply of gas off. This is why I think the float is getting (gaslogged)if that makes any sense. The pump the previous owner had on it is a carter 8G14A 430.Anyone know the proper one to use if the new mechanical one dosn't do the job? I also read about someone putting a return line in?
