  • Hello, first post. Advice on buying Argo.

Hello everyone. New Here. Looking to buy first atv and like the argo. Any advice on price of used 8 wheel model. Went to an auction yesterday and a 2000 response 28 hours on engine with winch, windshield, skid plate went for $10,400. That seems high to me. Is that the price i should expect to pay for a good used 8 wheel argo?

Welcome to the site. What year, model, accessories, etc are you looking for and how "used" do you want. Just a few hours on the machine like the one you mentioned or something in the 200 hour or more range?

I think the $10,400 that Response went for is way to high, but then again, that's me. I'm kinda cheap. If it only had 28 hours on the whole machine then I guess that's why it brought what it did.

It's hard to give a ballpark figure for what you should expect to pay but if you help us narrow what you are looking for then someone may be able to throw some numbers at it.

I think the best way to find out the prices is to watch ebay and see what similar models bring. That way you know what to expect and after a while you will be able to tell if one is a good deal or not.

i think you should decide if the machines worth it. keep in mind a new argo up here(can) is goin for bout 23,999! just like a honda i found in that they keep resale value well

That price sounds high to me, but not having seen the machine, it's a tough call.

I bought my 2004 Conquest in 2006 for $8,500 with Winch, Windshield, Supertracks, Top (damaged), and some minor electrical problems.

IMHO, you should be able to do better......but, for all I know, that Response could have spent 27hrs idling and may have been in showroom condition. lol

              2003 Conquest

When i bought my 2003 Conquest 2 years ago with 85 hrs, it was in mint condition. Price on it was 8,500. Came with rear seat. Most of its time was puttering around in a back yard environment. Not a scratch on it. Was a great machine to drive. 10,400 seems a bit high for a Response. My 2 cents.

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways , cigar in one hand, whiskey in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!!!"

Thanks everyone for the advice. The argo sold at auction looked like it was used around someones yard and was in mint condition. I am from KY and there are not many around my area. I want an 8 wheel atv to use around my wifes 650 acre family farm that has about 75 acres of swamp. We also have a house on KY lake and thought it would be fun to use there too. I guess about $7,500 is about all I really am willing to spend. What make and model and age should I be looking for?
