  • argo 8x8 conquest

hi i am looking at a 2004 8x8 with 75 hours on it. they are only asking 6500 is that a good price?? what can you tell me to look for ??

Seems like a good price. You want to check the basics.Oil, trans oil, Check the gas. smell it to see if it is fresh. stale gas will give you lots of problems. Pull the floor pans and check the chains,(rusty, well lubed?,loose?, tight?, check the frame for rust and cracks. You can also lift the machine and wiggle each tire. If you get any movement more than just a twitch than it may need bearings. I didn't do that a year ago when I bought mine and my machine is torn apart because 4 out of six bearings went bad. I'm replacing all 6 outers. Ok guys What did I miss? Hope this helps. SETH

      pretty good price

it all depends on what accessories come with it, if it has windshield, tracks, cover top, and bilge pump then its a really good deal, with only seventy five hours it should still be in really good shape. About the only thing I can add it to check the tub and hull for cracks or scrapes or any kinda holes

Chappy and Freddi pretty much covered it
        I might add: Check
        Brakes
The grease nipples on the outer brngs (Some times they get broke off)
Rear frame "cross member", where the hitch plate mounts, for cracks
        Winch Mount, and Installation.

Get yourself a "Mechanics Magnet", and run it around under the engine/trans. Sometimes "Things" get dropped and can rattle around under there for a long time before getting picked up by a chain (A dropped nut from mounting a winch can take out a chain/sprocket really easily)

$6,500 for that Argo is in the ballpark, depending on options.

MY Conquest is a 2004, I bought it in 2006 for $8,500. (I believe I got a very good deal)
Mine came with Supertracks, 4,200 lb Winch, a badly damaged top/windshield, and electrical problems. It had about 120hrs on it I think.

I just paid $7.80 for each bearing online. I also replaced the seals and got those through the argo dealer at $2 each. I spent roughly $13 per axle. Pretty fair price for a tip top running machine.

Swamp Donkey. Where are you getting your bearings? Northland Liesure in The Pas is the closest argo dealer to Flin Flon, and the prices they quoted me were not that high. Kinecor can also get them and if I remember right their price was around $20 each.
