bearing lineup!!

When instaling new outer bearings, how important is it to line up the greese fittings to the hole in the bearing wall??? I had one of my greese fittings not take greese as easy as it should so I think I may have missed the lileup when I installed the bearing.

What kind of machine are we talking about?

The bearings I had, had a groove around it so it didnt matter. As long as you didnt reverse it.
maybe swap the jerk and check them, maybe something plugging it.

If you reused your flanges (and even if they are new)make sure the grease zerk is clean and free of dirt.It is always a good idea to try them before installation,by sticking the grease gun on them and giving it a pump to be sure the grease comes through with no problem.I also like to apply a very thin bead of RTV around the outer edge of the flanges before I put them together over the bearing (be sure they clean and dry).This helps keep grease in and dirt out,just don't put so much that it plugs the grease ring in the bearing and flange.As Larry said there should be a groove around the bearing for the grease to follow so hole to zerk allignment is not critical.-Gregg

sweet! So I guess I don't have to take all the chains back off and that axel back out. I might loosen that flange and check the gasket. After I posted last night I noticed the gasket looks alittle bit pushed out so I'll check that and I'll be back up and running.
